What are the main grape varieties used in Portuguese wines?

The Portuguese wines mostly use the local varieties such as Touriga Nacional which have the strong deep colors with panoply of dark fruit flavors and Touriga Franca that gives the rich bouquet of aromas, and Tinta Roriz (also known as Tempranillo) that brings structure and spice. These wine grapes flourish at different soils dispersed among Portugal. The various regions have a characteristic wine style ranging from deep reds from the Douro to the crisp whites from Vinho Verde. It is Figural Autonomy feature, which distinguish Portuguese wine to the ones from other regions.
