What are some notable regions for Tempranillo wines outside of Spain?

Although Spain is the centre of Tempranillo production, other wine regions globally have adopted this versatile grape variety with considerable success as well. In Portugal’s Douro Valley, Tempranillo, which is called Tinta Roriz, is used for the production of Port wines, providing them with body and complexity. Another grape variety that prospers in the warm, arid climate of California’s Paso Robles AVA is Tempranillo, which delivers plump and bold wines with dark fruit and spice flavors. Tempranillo seems to have a bright future in Argentina’s Mendoza region where it is becoming more and more popular with winemakers looking to diversify their wines and showing the adaptability of the grape to various terroirs and winemaking styles.
