Located in the Western Cape of South Africa, in the Stellenbosch wine region, the Warwick Estate has been owned by the Ratcliffe family since 1964 and released its first harvest in 1984. The estate, which today spans over 40 hectares of vineyards, and also purchases other grapes from the Uitkyk estate vineyard, is particularly famous for its rich and powerful reds, such as the Trilogy Red and the Blue Lady.
The White Lady is a wine produced only with Chardonnay grapes from two sites located in the Helderberg, and one in the Simonsberg. The blend of grapes from the three sites guarantees the perfect balance between freshness, acidity, and structure. The harvest takes place separately per plot and at different stages of maturation. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels.
The wine has a bright golden-yellow color. On the nose, it reveals a fresh and fruity aromatic profile with citrus notes and some well-integrated vanilla hints. On the palate, it is elegant, lively, fruity, and well-balanced. It has a good body. The finish is long and recalls notes of vanilla. It makes an excellent aperitif, but it is also the ideal wine for grilled fish.
A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!
