The iconic grape variety of Spain’s Rueda wine region, Verdejo creates delicious white wines which are crisp and refreshing with a bright fruity personality. Vinos Sanz was founded in 1870 by a local family from La Seca next to the town of Rueda and became an early champion of this then little-known indigenous variety.

1980 saw the creation of the D.O. or Denomination of Origin of Reuda to celebrate and promote the unique Verdejo wines being grown in the region. The Sanz family immediately saw the potential of this collective effort and began investing in new facilities and adopting the latest winemaking techniques and technologies. Today Vinos Sanz is in the hands of the sixth generation of the family and it has a fine reputation as the oldest winery in Rueda.

The winery’s Montesol Verdejo is a classic example of the grape, offering crisp aromas of lemon zest, white peaches and hints of sweet anise. On the palate the vibrant acidity is immediately apparent and balanced by ripe fruity flavours of nectarines, pineapples and apricots. The grapes for this wine are sourced from the estate’s sunniest vineyards where the cool summer nights help to create a well-balanced freshness in the wines.
