Uberti Franciacorta Sublimis 2016

The noble Uberti family have been growing grapes since at least 1793 in the commune of Ebrusco in Lombardy. In 1980 G. Augustine Uberti and his wife Eleanor took a leap of faith and started to make their own sparkling wines from just 9 hectares of vineyards. These days the estate enjoys a reputation as one of Franciacorta’s most prized producers, and in recent years the couple have been joined in the family business by their daughters Silvia and Francesca.

This delicate cuvee is made from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, which are carefully selected from the best vineyards in the region. The grapes for this wine are harvested by hand and undergo a long and slow fermentation process in the bottle known as the traditional method. The wine is then aged on its lees for a minimum of 48 months to give it its characteristic complexity and depth of flavor.

Expect an intense golden yellow hue in the glass with delicate bubbles aromas of ripe fruit, hazelnuts, and brioche. On the palate, Sublimis is full-bodied and well-structured, with a creamy texture and a persistent finish. Pairs well with a wide range of dishes from seafood and shellfish to poultry and game.
