The Torres winery has a very long winemaking tradition that dates back 3 centuries ago when the ancestors of the current owners settled in the Penedès area. Today the company, which has also been producing brandy since 1928, is considered one of the most prestigious wineries in Spain and also produces wine in Chile and California.

Purgatori Costers del Segre is a blend of Cariñena, Garnacha and Shiraz. The grapes, harvested by hand at the moment of perfect ripeness, come from vineyards planted on clayey soils located in Les Garrigues, an area historically known for its aridity. After the harvest, the grapes ferment at a controlled temperature in wood. The finished wine is then aged for about 18 months in French barriques.

The wine reveals a broad and complex aromatic profile with notes of forest fruits (mulberry, blackberry, currant, and blueberry), followed by mineral and smoky touches. On the palate, it is round and dry. The tannins are firm but smooth and its body is full. It is a wine with a strong and very well-balanced character and a long finish that recalls mineral notes. It is perfect with meat cooked in tomato sauces, such as meatballs, but it also pairs well with grilled chorizo.
