The Prisoner Wine Company was founded in Napa Valley in the early 2000s with the launch of its first wine, The Prisoner, whose name and label were inspired by an engraving by Francisco Goya, the celebrated 19th-century Spanish artist. Since then, the wine portfolio has expanded thanks to collaborations with over 100 Northern California growers, led by Chief Winemaker Todd Ricard, and the company quickly established itself as one of the most innovative on the market.

Produced with carefully selected Chenin Blanc grapes from vineyards across California, Salso is a fresh and vibrant white wine that combines the lively, citrusy character of Central Coast wines with the structure and fruity concentration of Clarksburg and the complexity of the North Coast. After harvest, fermentation takes place in oak barrels.

In the glass, the wine reveals a clear and brilliant straw-yellow color. On the nose, it displays fruity aromas of citrus, pineapple, mango, papaya, and pear, interspersed with notes of white flowers and a hint of honey. On the palate, it has a pleasant creaminess. It is intense, juicy, and balanced, with a citrusy acidity and a long, smooth finish that evokes sweet hints of exotic fruit. It is versatile when paired with food: excellent as an aperitif with appetizers and seafood or with spicy Asian fish-based recipes.
