Founded by David Swift Phinney in 1998, California-based Orin Swift Cellars has grown over the years into a major international brand, encompassing 300 acres of vineyards in southwest France and projects in Spain, Italy, Corsica, and Argentina. The winery name pays homage to David's parents (Swift is his mother's maiden name, while Orin is his father's middle name). In 2016, the company became part of E. & J. Gallo Winery, although David maintains a consulting role.

The Sauvignon Blanc grapes come from vineyards in the Russian River Valley. Fermentation takes place primarily in stainless steel tanks and to a lesser extent in barrels. The finished wine ages for four months in French oak (about half new).

Orin Swift Blank Stare Sauvignon Blanc is a lively and expressive wine that reveals a clear, pale white-gold color in the glass. Its aromatic profile is fresh and exuberant, with notes of lime zest, kiwi, ripe grapefruit, and green apple, intertwined with floral aromas of jasmine and white flowers, lemongrass, and sage. On the palate, it is rich, broad, and well-structured, with notes of tropical fruit and a smooth, creamy texture, thanks to the oak aging. It has vibrant acidity and a long finish that evokes pungent notes of sweet pepper and lime. Try it with fish carpaccio, crab, and shrimp salad.
