Located in Rutherford, Napa Valley, The Federalist winery is owned by the Terlato Wines. Its wines come from estate vineyards located in several AVAs including Lodi, the North Coast, and Sonoma County. Their flagship wine is Dry Creek Valley's Visionary Zinfandel, which, like all other wines, features one of the founding fathers on the label.

For this wine, Zinfandel grapes from the Lodi wine region are added with a small amount of Syrah. After a 12-day maceration, the fermentation takes place separately for the two varieties in order to guarantee their full varietal expression. The finished wine is then aged in oak for 12 months. The Federalist's Zinfandel is a bold and original wine that pays homage to the revolutionary figure of George Washington, the first President of the United States.

The wine reveals a garnet red color with an intense ruby background. The aromatic profile is very characteristic and expressive with intense aromas of strawberry and berries, pepper and spices, and some balsamic nuances of mint and eucalyptus. It is a full-bodied and rich wine, fruity and jammy, with smooth tannins and balanced acidity. Try it with a juicy Beef Brisket or with herb-roasted lamb.
