    This Saperavi Special Reserve opens with an intense bouquet of pomegranate, blackberry, lavender, and wild raspberry fruits. It is a more complex iteration of Saperavi by Tbilvino, composed of the very best grape clusters, gathered each year by the winemakers. An authentic, top-tier taste of Georgia’s flagship grape.

    Tbilvino was founded in 1962 and has become one of Georgia’s greatest wineries, with two production centres located in Tbilisi and Kvareli. Since 1999, it has been under the ownership of brothers Zurab and Giorgi Margvelashvili. In addition to bringing the winery into the modern age, they have also garnered multiple international prizes, winning gold at the IWC, Decanter London and Mondial.

    The Saperavi grapes spent 12 months maturing in French oak barrels, and a further 6 months in the bottle before release. This has imparted a subtle oaky outline to the palate - but the core is an intense blast of black cherry, cassis, baking spice and smoke. An excellent tannic structure guarantees the wine’s longevity, if it is stored in the right conditions. The Saperavi Special Reserve is the perfect wine for a romantic dinner, or for complementing a juicy medium-rare steak.
