Pinot Noir
Schuster Eisenhut Reserve Pinot Noir 2017
Drink now or cellar for up to 7 years. No need to decant before serving.
The Schuster winery is located in Großriedenthal in the Wagram wine region which is considered to be one of the "most beautiful villages in Austria". The Schuster family have been making wine here for over 250 years and adopt a long-term approach to their winemaking by seeking to work in harmony with nature wherever possible.
Although 75% of the family’s annual production is white wines, the cool climate conditions in this part of Austria are also ideal for creating elegant, fresh red wines like this Eisenhut Reserve Pinot Noir. This wine is made with selected grapes from the family’s top plots along with small quantities from trusted neighbouring growers in some vintages. The family only produces a few thousand bottles each year.
The nose opens with charming notes of cranberry, red cherry, and earthy and herbal hints while the first sip offers a mouthwatering freshness and spicy notes which linger long on the tongue. The fine texture, smooth entry, and refined tannins make this incredibly easy to drink and a versatile gastronomic wine. Try pairing with charcuterie, mature cheeses, and fresh pasta served with a hearty tomato-based ragu.
