Located in the valley of the Torto river, in the heart of the Douro, Quinta Vale Dona Maria was purchased in 1996 by Cristiano Van Zeller after leaving the family business (Quinta do Noval), to rebuild and replant the vineyards and make his wine. The property extends over 19 hectares, and the vineyard area includes vines with an average age of over 50 years and 28 different grape varieties.

Branco Douro 2019 is a blend of native white grape varieties of the Douro, including Rabigato and Viosinho, Samarrinho, Donzelinho Branco, and Códega. The grapes are selected manually in an over 80-year-old vineyard located at an average altitude of 480 meters. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels at a controlled temperature. The wine is then left to age for 8 months in barriques and two years in the bottle before being released on the market.

The wine reveals an intense and complex aromatic profile with buttery and intensely fruity aromas of grapefruit and ripe lemon followed by notes of orange peel and flowers. The woody notes linked to the passage in the barrel are perfectly integrated with the fruity aromas. On the palate, the wine is full and creamy, with excellent citrus freshness and ginger notes that enliven everything. The finish is very long, complex, refined, and extremely lively. Ideal to accompany baked fish, light roasted or grilled meats, and a wide selection of cheeses.
