Founded in 2002 by Eduardo and Hugo Pulenta, Tenuta Pulenta is located in Alto Agrelo in Mendoza. The two Pulenta brothers have Italian origins. They are the grandchildren of the Italian winemaker Antonio Polenta, who emigrated to Argentina in 1902 where he changed his name to Pulenta. Antonio purchased his first vineyard in 1914, building a winery over time which was then sold in 1997. His grandchildren today own approximately 135 hectares of vineyards, located at 980 m above sea level, where the climatic conditions are ideal for viticulture and the melting of the Andean glaciers provides a natural irrigation system for the vines.
Pulenta Gran Corte is a wine of exceptional quality produced in very limited quantities from a blend of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. The grapes are carefully selected by hand. After vinification, the wine ages in new French oak for approximately 18 months.
Gran Corte has a deep and intense red color. On the nose, it reveals an expressive aromatic profile with notes of plum, cherry, and other dark fruits, and then Mediterranean spices and herbs (especially thyme and oregano). On the palate, the wine is concentrated and well structured, elegant and soft. The finish is long and recalls spicy notes. It is the ideal wine for red meat, especially grilled.
