Produttori Vini Manduria is Puglia’s oldest wine cooperative, founded in 1928 and today boasting 400 member growers. In total they farm 900 hectares of vines across the region, meaning that each grower can give great attention and care to their vines. Membership of the cooperative is also passed from generation to generation, giving each member grower a real sense of pride and commitment to the project.

The cooperative is best known for its stunning Primitivo wines which offer sensational value for money thanks to the winery’s long history and the talent of winemaking consultant Leonardo Pinto who has been working here for 20 years. This elegant bottling is crafted from mature 35-50 year old vines which are predominantly planted as bush vines to endure the tough arid conditions. Once in the winery the grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled tanks and the young wine ages in French oak barrels for 12 months before bottling.

The result is a deep, intense red bursting with ripe plums, crushed wild berries, figs and dried fruit. On the palate there’s a generous full body, silky smooth yet firm tannins, and a well-built structure that makes this an ideal match for hearty red meat dishes.
