Founded in the early 2000s by Andrea Franchetti, the Passopisciaro winery is located in the province of Catania, on the slopes of the Etna volcano, and has historically played a fundamental role in the rediscovery of the local wines. The company, today led by the oenologist Vincenzo Lo Mauro, produces high-quality volcanic wines, from native and international vines.

The Chardonnay grapes come from terraced vineyards, located on the slopes of the north side of the volcano at an altitude of approximately 900 meters above sea level, on sandy and volcanic soils. After a period of cold maceration and fermentation, the finished wine ages for approximately 10 months in wood and then a further 6 months in the bottle.

Contrada PC Passopisciaro has a clear color with straw yellow tones. The nose reveals fragrant aromas of yellow fruit (peach and pineapple), white flowers, and some herbaceous and tropical hints. On the palate, it is ripe and juicy, full and lively with a good body and a marked acidic streak. The finish is long and mineral. It pairs deliciously with fish tartare, risotto with scallops, and roast sea bass.
