Located in the heart of the Langhe, in Piedmont, the Paitin estate has belonged to the Pasquero-Elia family since 1796 and has been producing bottled wine since 1893. Since the 1950s, after phylloxera and the wars, the company has focused on its production on quality, with the production of Barbaresco Vecchie Vigne Riserva, which still remains the company's flagship wine.
The Nebbiolo grapes are selected and harvested by hand from the vineyard located on the warmer Serraboella side of Neive. The vines planted in the early 1950s benefit from marly-calcareous soils belonging to the Marne di Sant'Agata and a perfect climate for the ripening of Nebbiolo. The finished wine rests in large Slavonian or Austrian oak barrels for a minimum period of 30 months.
This elegant Barbaresco Riserva shows an intense color with ruby-red tones. On the nose, it reveals a broad and complex aromatic profile with spicy and aromatic herbal notes and the classic hints of rose petals and forest berries typical of the Nebbiolo grape. On the palate, the wine is full of character and well-balanced, with strong acidity and firm tannins. The finish is long and persistent and recalls balsamic hints. Have it with game or roast mushrooms.
