This alluring Valpolicella Ripasso boasts a deep ruby hue and enticing aromas of ripe red cherries, plums, sweet spices and tobacco. The first sip reveals a generous full body and a silky smooth texture along with dark berry and dried fruit flavours that linger long on the tongue. The intense fruit flavours and firm structure of this wine would make an excellent partner for hearty pasta dishes like Rigatoni Bolognese or succulent roasted meats like lamb and beef.

The family-run Nicolis estate is set in the heart of the Valpolicella region close to the town of San Pietro di Cariano. Today the winery is in the capable hands of brothers Giancarlo and Giuseppe who strive to follow in their forefathers’ footsteps by producing delicious wines that speak of this unique land and its ancient winemaking traditions.

This single vineyard wine is crafted with grapes grown in the family’s exceptional Seccal plot which is located in a hilly part of the family’s estate. The grapes are harvested by hand and then fermented along with the skins which have previously been used to make the family’s Amarone and Recioto wines. This traditional process gives the Seccal Valpolicella Ripasso an intense dried fruit character as well as adding extra colour, tannins and body to the wine. The wine is then aged in Slavonian oak barrels for 16 months and subsequently aged in the bottle for at least 6 months before it is deemed ready for release.
