Riesling
Marcel Deiss Riesling 2017
Drink now through to 2024. Serve chilled.
Located in the charming village of Bergheim in the heart of Alsace, Domaine Marcel Deiss is responsible for some of the region’s most exciting and innovative bottlings. The Deiss family have been making wine in Bergheim since at least as far back as 1744 and today Marcel’s grandson Jean Michel works 26 hectares of prime hillside vineyards in 9 different communes.
Growing conditions can vary intensely in Alsace due to the variable weather patterns from year to year and the variety of terroirs. Jean Michel seeks to work with nature in his winemaking through organic viticulture and a light touch in the winery which allows the unique character of each vintage and vineyard to shine through in his unique wines.
Jean Michel’s Riesling is a laser-focused, pure expression of the variety which opens with crisp citrus fruit, white peach and tropical fruit. On the palate there’s a steely minerality and bright streak of acidity along with hints of ripe stone fruit and lemon zest. The brightness and mouthwatering freshness make this a great aperitif or partner to seafood, delicately-flavoured pan-fried white fish, or spicy Asian curries, salads, and aromatic noodle dishes like Pad Thai.
