Founded in 1992 by married couple Debbie and Randy Lewis in Napa Valley, the Lewis family winery produces approximately 9,000 cases annually of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc from selected vineyards in Napa Valley and Sonoma. Their most successful wines are certainly those based on Cabernet Sauvignon, but the company also produces a very popular range based on Chardonnay, among which the most famous one is the Barcaglia Lane cuvée from the Russian River Valley. Debbie and Randy's son Dennis joined the team in 1999.
The red grapes of the Lewis winery come from the Calistoga, St. Helena, Rutherford and Oak Knoll areas from vines with low vigor rootstocks and a selection of clones that guarantee modest yields and maximum concentration of flavors.
The Cabernet Sauvignon from the Lewis winery has a deep purple color with very dark shades. The aromatic profile reveals an intense and complex bouquet with aromas of wild cherries, cassis, dark chocolate and spices, licorice, blackberry jam, and exotic woods. On the palate, the wine is broad and powerful, rich and creamy with firm tannins and a fresh character. It is a well-structured and very concentrated wine that shows great aging potential. The finish reveals an exceptional complexity and length, with notes of blue and black berries and traces of minerals and coffee. Perfect with red meat and game stews.
