The Vins de Vienne estate is the culmination of a great friendship between three winegrowers from the Northern Rhône Valley. Yves Cuilleron, François Villard, and Pierre Gaillard founded the estate in 1996 with the ambition of enhancing the left bank of the Rhône. For more than 20 years, the three men have been producing white and red cuvées that reflect the authenticity of this friendship and their passion for the vine.
The wine range has been structured and apart from the 3 initial cuvées (Sotanum, Taburnum, and Heluicum), many locations have appeared in parcel selections, covering all the appellations of the northern Rhône, as well as 2 new ranges in collaboration with some producers selected for the quality of their work and compliance with rigorous regulations.
The name Sotanum refers to the benefits of the drink once brewed on these hills. The cuvée comes from seven property plots located in the hills of Seyssuel.
Sotanum is widely considered to be one of the most prestigious wines of the Rhone Valley. It is a full, silky, powerful red wine with delicate tannins and a harmonious structure. The nose offers sweet aromas of ripe berries and spices. The finish is incredibly long. Enjoy it with a Provençal stew, a lamb tagine with spices, or even a filet mignon. Red fruit condiments, and pepper sauces will highlight the beauty of this Syrah.
