La Spinetta is a family-run winery founded in the late 1970s by the Rivetti family and located in the province of Asti, Piedmont. Initially focused solely on producing Moscato d'Asti, the company now makes a wide range of local white and red wines. Over the years, La Spinetta has also acquired estates in Tuscany and the historic sparkling wine house Contratto in Piedmont.
The Sauvignon Blanc grapes come from a vineyard of approximately 2 hectares situated between the municipalities of Mango and Treiso, at an altitude of about 400 meters above sea level. Here, the vines benefit from a southern exposure and are rooted in marly-limestone soil. Following the harvest and fermentation in used French oak barrels, the finished wine ages for 20 months in barrel and an additional 4 months in the bottle.
The result is a wine with a brilliant color and straw-yellow hues. On the nose, it reveals a broad, expressive aromatic profile featuring typical herbaceous and citrus notes, alongside hints of tropical fruit and ripe white fruit set against a mineral backdrop. On the palate, it is crisp, fresh, and mineral, with pronounced acidity and a balanced, slightly honeyed finish. Try it with tuna tartare, asparagus and Gruyère tart, or grilled mixed shellfish.
