This is a powerful, rustic red wine, made completely from the thick-skinned Primitivo grape. It is very dark purple in the glass, verging on black. It opens with strong scents of plum, raspberry, blackberry, chocolate, and herbs, alongside warm hints of baking spice, which evolve as the wine breathes.
La Bollina can be found in the southern part of Piedmont. This is the home of Nebbiolo and Gavi, the grapes that La Bollina are most famed for – but the winery’s grape portfolio has expanded to many of Italy’s great wine regions, including Puglia in the country’s southern tip. The operation is overseen by Marco Roveda, with help from enologist Andrea Zampieri and agronomist Franco Fierri.
On the palate, Actarus is a classic Primitivo from Puglia, bursting with power and the latent heat of the Mediterranean sun. Notes of raisin, leather, and ripe black fruits hit on the palate, along with smooth tannins and lively acidity. As it evolves, flavours of cocoa and tobacco smoke also emerge. It spent 12 months ageing in oak barrels before bottling. This is a great wine for pairing with steak, charcuterie, or eggplant parmesan.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
