Cabernet Sauvignon
Kamen Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
Drink it now or cellar for up to 15-20 years. It is recommended to decant it for two hours.
Located on the southern Mayacamas Range in Sonoma, California, Kamen Estate Wines has been owned by Robert Mark Kamen, a native New Yorker, since 1980. The estate spans over 113 acres of which 20 acres are located on the slopes of Mount Veeder and Moon Mountain, and are cultivated with certified organic and biodynamic vineyards, where Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petite Sirah, Grenache, Sauvignon Blanc, and Viognier grapes are grown.
The estate produced its first vintage Cabernet Sauvignon in 1999. Kamen's signature wine is Kashmir Cuvée, a blend of the estate's best lots of Cabernet Sauvignon, produced in small quantities, only in exceptional vintages. The Kamen Cabernet Sauvignon is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown within the estate from vines located at 350 - 450 metres above sea level.
The wine has a very intense and complex olfactory profile, made up of rich aromas of ripe raspberries, wild blackberries, plums, blackcurrants, and cherries, followed by notes of vanilla, marzipan, slate, leather, chalk, and crushed stone. On the palate, it is bold and expressive, focused and refined. The tannins are firm but ripe. The finish is long and recalls chocolate. Try it with grilled venison or beef stew.
