The story of Jean Bouchard is one that spans over a century and a half, beginning in the middle of the 19th century. Over the years, the winery grew in both size and reputation, developing close ties with Albert Bichot winery - until it was finally acquired by the Bichot family in 1955. Their unwavering dedication has shaped what Jean Bouchard is today, a Burgundy institution, with an impeccable range of wine to choose from.
This white wine was sourced from vineyards across Chablis, Burgundy’s northernmost region. It is an impressive tasting experience and an ideal introduction to the steely, mineral-rich wines of this famous terroir.
A strong mineral character is evident from the very beginning of this 100% Chardonnay wine. Look for slightly saline notes on the nose, along with wet stone and a medley of refreshing fruits. These notes all continue into the crisply acidic and well-structured palate. Green apple, lemon, pear and melon mingle with notes of honey and butter, gained from 6 months of ageing on the lees. On the long finish, the wine's mineral character returns in force. Serve it slightly chilled, with goat’s cheese, poultry in a creamy sauce, or a variety of slightly briny seafood.
