In 2002, Isabel Ferrando bought the historical Domaine Saint-Préfert, founded in 1920 in Châteauneuf-Du-Pape, a small village in southern France known all over the world for its homonymous wine. Since then, Isabel has been leading the company together with her husband and son. To renew the image of the historic cellar and the productive style, she introduced the rules of organic and biodynamic agriculture. The winery philosophy is based on a series of principles that express a strong link with the territory such as collaboration with local suppliers, no use of chemical products, recycling of wastewater, and development of biodiversity. The estate covers 22 hectares of vineyards planted with Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Cinsault, Clairette, and Roussanne, from vines with a very high average age.
Despite the 13 grape varieties allowed in the blend of Châteauneuf du Pape, Isabel Ferrando’s wine is only made with Grenache and Mourvèdre. The grapes ferment and age separately, for 18 months, in oak.
The wine reveals a ruby color with purple shades. It is vigorous and powerful with a fragrant and complex aromatic profile made of red fruit and spicy notes. On the palate, it is elegant and intense, with fine tannins. It’s perfect with game and red meat.
Great choice of wines and very fast delivery.
