The Yarra Valley Chardonnay is an elegant and wiry white wine, exhibiting a fresh nose of green apple skin, nectarine, oak, and flinty minerality. It is harvested from a small block of Chardonnay grapes, located on the crest of a hill in the Upper Yarra Valley, in South East Australia.

Hoddles Creek Estate is one of Australia’s finest wineries: a family-run business, spearheaded by the Young Gun of Wine People’s Choice winner for 2010, Franco D’Anna. The D’Anna family have owned the plot of land that serves as the basis for Hoddles Creek’s vineyards since 1960 and founded the winery in 1997. Their vineyards are located at the cooler end of Yarra Valley, on steep slopes that make it impossible to work machines. The D’Anna family take a hands-on, unfiltered approach to wine-making.

This is a fresh and vibrant Chardonnay, shimmering with flavours of pure citrus: lime, lemon and grapefruit. These sharp notes are supported by slightly bitter hints of almond, juicy green apple and chalk. The experience is driven by acidity, which grants the entire wine a tenacious energy. It has the potential to age for several years, but can also be enjoyed straight away. Consider pairing it with fresh cheeses or delicate seafood.
