The historic Hendry Ranch has been owned by the Hendry family since 1939, but there’s actually been a vineyard here since 1859 that was planted by brothers Frederick and John Sigrist. The property is located just north of Carneros and has an impressive 117 acres of vineyards that have been organised into 49 individual blocks. This allows the family to have maximum control over their winemaking and produce wines which express the unique character of the terroir.

This majestic Cabernet is produced from estate vineyards that are all dry farmed to help produce intense, concentrated fruit that’s packed with natural varietal character. Once in the winery the fruit is vinified using their state-of-the-art equipment and the young wine is aged in second and third-use barrels for 18 months.

Sure to please loves of big Cabernets, this punchy red has a robust full body, firm tannins, and solid core of ripe dark fruit that pairs beautifully with hearty red meat dishes. The finish is long and elegant, seasoned with hints of cloves, cinnamon, tobacco leaf and woodsmoke from the oak ageing. The combination of power and finesse makes this a great wine to keep in the cellar for a decade or more, or to enjoy now with a prime ribeye steak or rich game dish.
