Located in the Meursault wine appellation, Domaine Guy Bocard has been producing Burgundy wines since the 1920s, when it was founded by Charles Bocard. After being in the Bocard family for many decades, the estate is now owned by the Derichebourg family, who have converted to organic farming and entrusted the cellar management to the talented winemaker Philippe Pacalet.
Meursault Vieilles Vignes is produced with Chardonnay grapes selected and hand-picked from vines that are between 50 and 80 years old, spread across the various plots En la Barre, Les Malpoiriers, Les Dressoles and Les Durots located near Volnay. Here the vines enjoy a south-east exposure and calcareous clay soils. After vinification, the finished wine rests for about 18 months on its lees, in French oak barrels (1/4 new).
The wine reveals a splendid golden color with bright reflections. Its aromatic profile is broad and fragrant with floral and fruity notes and honeyed and vanilla hints. On the palate, it is lively and fresh, rich and complex with a good concentration of fruit and a well-balanced marked acidity that suggests good aging capacity. The finish is long and with a hint of salinity. Excellent with roast sea bass, chicken with morel cream, and truffle risotto.
