Pinot Noir
Gerard Bertrand Domaine de L'Aigle Pinot Noir 2018
Drink now through to 2026. No need to decant before serving.
Regarded as the “King of the Languedoc” by many wine lovers, Gerard Bertrand has decades of experience of making top quality wines across the region. This stunning Pinot Noir comes from one of the region’s highest altitude zones in the Aude Valley where the terroir is reminiscent of that found in Burgundy. The vineyards here are cultivated according to biodynamic practice which ensure the grapes are grown respecting the rhythms of nature.
Grapes destined for this delicious Pinot are carefully harvested by hand and arrive at the winery in small crates to minimise damage. They are then fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged in small French oak barrels for up to 12 months. The different barrels are then analysed and the final blend decided before bottling takes place.
From the first sip you’ll immediately notice the delicious ripe red fruit character which defines this wine along with a silky smooth texture, fine tannins and medium body. The finish is long and well-defined with subtle hints of woodsmoke and baking spice from the maturation in oak. A great wine to serve at casual family dinners or alongside a generous platter of cheeses and charcuterie.
