Known as the “King of the Languedoc”, Gerard Bertrand is an iconic figure in the French wine world thanks to his work in the South of France where he produces a huge range of wines from many of the region’s top appellations. The region is especially well known for its ethereal rosé wines, and this bottling is widely regarded as a classic thanks to its iconic rose-shaped bottle design and delicious fruit-forward character.
The grapes are sourced from selected vineyards planted on the limestone and gravel soils commonly found in the Languedoc. The cooling effect of the nearby Mediterranean coast helps to provide ideal growing conditions, preserving freshness and elegance in the grapes.
In the winery the Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah grapes are harvested and vinified separately and then later blended. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks which ensure the freshness and varietal character is preserved as much as possible. The result is a lively, refreshing rosé with charming strawberry and red cherry notes on the nose and a light body complemented by a bright streak of acidity and ripe red berry flavours. The easy-going nature of this wine makes it a great aperitif or partner for salads, seafood and fish dishes.
