Located in Bolgheri, Tuscany, the Ca Marcanda estate is owned by the prestigious Piedmontese winery Gaja. The company extends over 100 hectares of land and produces Tuscan wines. The name of the company derives from the Piedmontese term which means "house of endless negotiations" and refers to the long negotiations that were necessary for Angelo Gaja for the purchase.

The red Bolgheri is a Bordeaux blend created with a majority of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and small additions of Cabernet Franc. The grapes are selected from the vineyard located in Castagneto Carducci on white soils, ideal for the production of long-lived wines. The result is a harmonious wine with the fruity notes and softness of the Merlot, well balanced by the herbaceous aromas, structure, and strong tannins of the Cabernets. After fermentation, the finished wine is aged for 18 months in barrique and then for a further 12 months in the bottle, before being released onto the market.

The wine has an intense color with ruby tones. Its aromatic profile is intense and complex, with notes of red fruit, spices, herbs, and toasted coffee. On the palate, it has an excellent structure. It is soft, silky, and elegant, with a good tannic texture and a long finish. Try it with the game, grilled red meat, and mature sheep's cheeses.
