    This is a velvety white Burgundy, made of 100% Chardonnay from the Mâcon-Verzé appellation. It opens with aromas of white flowers, orchard fruits, lemon rind, and freshly baked apple pie, transforming as the wine breathes.

    Domaine Leflaive is primarily a Puligny-Montrachet winery, and has been distilling wines in that area of Burgundy for well over 250 years. Since 2004, however, the winery has expanded into Mâconnais, purchasing plots in Mâcon-Verzé and Solutré-Pouilly. In Maconnais, the vines are tended by Paul de Noüe, a member of the Leflaive family. The winery is dedicated to one grape: Chardonnay, so you best believe that this is one of the best-crafted white Burgundy wines available at the moment.

    On the palate, Mâcon-Verzé is rich and creamy, elevated by vibrant acidity and a mineral edge. White-fleshed fruits mingle with citrus, and the oak treatment is subtle, imparting slight hints of baking spice to the finish. After ageing on the lees for 10 months, this wine is aged for 6 more months in stainless steel before bottling. It is ideal for pairing with poultry, soft cheese, or a creamy pasta sauce.
