Domaine Latour-Giraud has been a stronghold of great Burgundy wine since the end of the 17th century. Today it is run by Jean-Pierre Latour, who places an emphasis on quality over quantity, and respect for the land over anything else.

The Domaine is composed of a humble 10 hectares, dotted throughout the finest wine-growing land in Meursault. Jean-Pierre employs a variety of techniques to express the terroir's pure essence, including natural yeasts, organic viticulture and bottling his wines without filtering. Cuvee Charles Maxime is made from 100% Chardonnay, an uncompromising and delicious reflection of the Meursault terroir.

This Cuvee is a two-horse carriage, driven by a perfect balance of rich fruits and wiry acidity. The nose reveals sumptuous notes of lemon, hazelnut, minerality and butter. The mouthfeel is creamy and thick, with swirling fruit flavours of pineapple, green apple, melon and pear. As the wine evolves, you can discover elements of grassiness, minerality, and a subtle salinity. It culminates in a long finish, with hints of florality. Charles Maxime is a perfect wine to begin exploring the upper crust of Chardonnay. Consider drinking it alone - or pairing it with delicate, finely textured fish and white meats in a creamy sauce.
