Mont de Mileu is a Premier Cru wine, and one of the most iconic tastes of Chablis that money can buy. It begins with a rich bouquet of orange peel, orchard fruits, chalky minerality, and subtle yet mouth-watering hints of exotic fruit. The Chardonnay grapes grew on sun-drenched soils, packed with white limestone and clay.
When you drink a Domaine des Malandes wine, you know it’s coming from a small, dedicated team – in all, the winery employs a team of nine and is led by third-generation vintners Richard and Amandine Marchive, and the talented oenologist Guénolé Breteaudeau. Their domain spans 29 hectares in all, including some of the finest Chardonnay vineyards in Burgundy.
The Mont de Milieu site imbues a certain amount of body and power to its wines, and this one is no different. You can discover notes of lemon and orange rind, coupled with fleshy flavours of white fruits, clean minerality, and careful hints of dried herbs and white flowers. A backbone of oak and vivacious acidity runs through it, allowing it to be paired with a variety of French dishes, or creamy seafood dishes. It is very enjoyable now, but can also be cellared for some time.
