Chateauneuf du Pape
Domaine Andre Mathieu Chateauneuf Du Pape 2019
Cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour.
Founded in 1600, the Domaine André Mathieu is a family business handed down from generation to generation and rooted for 4 centuries in Chateauneuf Du Pape. The vineyards extend over 12 hectares distributed in the Chateauneuf Du Pape appellation and 3.5 hectares in the Côtes du Rhône appellation. The vines have an average age of about 50 years, and the older vines, over a hundred years old, produce the grapes for the “La Centenaire” cuvée. Since 1987, the company has been managed by André Mathieu who carries on the family tradition with his wife Cécile and children Coralie and Thibault.
The blend of Chateauneuf Du Pape from Domaine Andre Mathieu includes all 13 grape varieties authorized by the appellation with a dominance of Grenache. The vinification takes place in the traditional way and the finished wine is aged in old barrels for 12-14 months.
The result is a wine of great elegance with a bright and clear color with ruby red tones. The aromatic profile is rich and complex with aromas of small red fruits and spices and some notes of licorice. In the mouth, the wine is concentrated with flavors of red fruits and spices accompanied by silky tannins. The finish is persistent and recalls spicy notes. Try it with red meat and game stews.
