Founded by brothers David and Bob Long in 1985, David Arthur Vineyards is located on Pritchard Hill in Napa Valley. The vineyard covers land purchased in the late 1950s by David's father. After deforestation and the planting of vineyards, in 1985 the company put its first wine on the market (from Chardonnay grapes).
Elevation 1147 is a wine produced with 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes sourced from the Elevation vineyard, which is located at the top of Pritchard Hill. The vines grow on volcanic, rocky, and not very vigorous soils, where the Cabernet Sauvignon gives its best. The finished wine is aged in French oak barrels.
The wine shows a dense and almost opaque color. It is a rich, elegant, and well-structured wine that has an intense and ripe aromatic profile with aromas of dark fruits such as blackberry, cherry, and currant, followed by spicy and herbaceous notes. On the palate, there is a great concentration of fruit. It is soft and balanced with firm and ripe tannins. The finish is long and persistent and recalls notes of dark chocolate. This wine is a real foodie and has the structure, complexity, and tannins to work perfectly with l red meat stews and game meat.
