George Lazaridi and his brother Gerasimos represent the second generation of the Costa Lazaridi winery, located in Adriani of Drama. Today the company cultivates about 230 hectares of vineyards with 25 different varieties, and produces 15 different wines. The company which includes four different wine brands (Amethystos, Chateau Julia, Domaine Costa Lazaridi, and Enotria Land) also produces distillates Tsipouro, Ouzo, and Eau de Vie and balsamic vinegar.
The grapes, coming from organic vineyards, are fermented in oak casks. The wine then matures for 24 months in new barriques.
The wine shows a dense and almost impenetrable color with dark red tones. On the nose, it is complex and intense with aromas of plums and dried figs, cherry jam, and nuances of vanilla, and leather resulting from the aging in wood. The Costa Lazaridi Oenotria Land Syrah Agiorgitiko is soft, rich, and has elegant and well-integrated tannins. There is a good acid vein that guarantees balance and freshness. The flavors of ripe fruit are felt again on the finish which is warm and persistent. The wine is the ideal partner for game stews or red meat cooked in red wine and with spices.
