A beautiful ruby colour in the glass, this is a stunning wine made exclusively from a rare Moldovan grape: Rara Neagra. It begins with a deep fruity nose, wafting with hints of blackberry, blackcurrant, and plum, alongside tobacco, coffee, and oak. Nocturne is Chateau Purcari’s latest range of high-quality wines. The grapes for this one were harvested in the dead of night, to preserve their quality and structure.
Chateau Purcari is Moldova’s premier winery, founded as early as 1827 when it was granted the title of first official winery in Bessarabia, Moldova’s predecessor. The winery is famed for being a favourite of Queen Elizabeth I, its use of indigenous grapes, and its similarities to Bordeaux wine. The two locations are located at a similar latitude, and Purcari soils are remarkably similar to those in Bordeaux.
This Rara Neagra is dry and delicate in the mouth, wrapping the tongue in finely grained tannins. You can discover rich notes of black fruit, leather, oak, and black pepper. Harvesting at night retains high levels of acidity, which lends excellent structure to this age-worthy red. It is ideal for pairing with roasted lamb, mushroom risotto, or a selection of cheese.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
