Chateau La Negly is a winery located in Languedoc, in the south of France, acquired and renovated in the 1990s by Jean Paux-Rosset with the help of winemaker Claude Gros. The estate's vineyards extend over 50 hectares, and it is located in the AOP La Clape. Since 2006, La Negly has also owned Domaine de Boede, and its 25 hectares of vineyards. Here, a short distance from Narbonne and the Mediterranean Sea in one of the sunniest areas of the entire country, the vines benefit from extremely favorable conditions for quality viticulture.
The Mourvedre grapes are carefully selected and hand-picked from the vineyards located on the south-eastern slopes of the Clape massif on clay-limestone soils, very stony. After vinification, the finished wine rests for 20 months in barrels.
The Ancely has a dense and deep color with purple tones and a broad and complex aromatic profile with intense fruity notes of ripe cherries, blackberries, and plums, mineral and elderberry hints, and spicy touches of pepper and cloves. On the palate, it is powerful and full-bodied, silky, and very concentrated. It has soft and well-integrated tannins and a long and fruity finish. It is excellent with red meat, game, and even roast lamb.
