Situated in the Bourdeaux AOC of Haut-Medoc, Chateau Peyrabon is celebrated for making wines that express terroir with strong personality. The owner Patrick Bernard, of the wine merchant Millésima, was drawn to the 50 hectare estate in 1998 due to its location on promising gravel terroir, perfect for Cabernet Sauvignon. Today with 34 plots planted to traditional Left Bank black grape varieties - some vines at 24-years old - Bernard and his team, led by winemaker Xavier Michelet, work passionately to produce honest wines that capture elegance, freshness and fruit.
From five hectares of vines of the prestigious Pauillac appellation within Haut-Medoc comes the Cru Bourgeois Château La Fleur Peyrabon. It joins the small circle of five Crus Bourgeois that make up the Pauillac AOC. Château La Fleur Peyrabon is aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new barrels and is a Cabernet Sauvignon-driven blend. The wine showcases notes typical to Pauillac, cigar box, pencil shavings, black fruits, tar, and charred wood. The palate is a burst of cassis, dried herbs and baking spices. Firm tannins, balanced acidity, and vegetal characteristics make this wine a classic example of the Old World. Allow to open over time as the wine will evolve in the glass and decanter. Enjoy with lamb dishes, rare cooked beef, mature cheeses, and a variety of game.
