The thousand-year-old Château de Meursault estate, developed in the 19th century under the guidance of the Serre family and then in the 1970s by André Boisseaux, today extends over 60 hectares of vineyards managed organically by the Halley family, owners for the last 10 years .
The Pommard 1er Cru Clos Epenots from Château de Meursault is produced with Pinot Noir grapes harvested from a vineyard of less than 4 hectares, divided into 5 parcels of vines aged between 45 and 75 years. The soil is of brown calcareous composition, with excellent drainage and heat release. The grapes are harvested and selected manually. Fermentation lasts approximately 15-18 days and the finished wine is then aged for 15 months in barrels (30% new and 70% used).
This elegant Pommard shows a clear and brilliant color with ruby red tones. Its aromatic profile is elegant and broad with notes of red and dark berries, followed by sweet spices. On the palate, it is round, with velvety tannins and a good body. It is fruity, fresh, and very harmonious. The finish is long and recalls some notes of cloves. It is the perfect wine for a gratin dauphinois, Piedmontese mixed boiled meat, or with cheeses such as Comté.
