Chateau de Meursault is a prestigious Burgundy estate with around 1,000 years of history and traditions. Over the centuries the estate passed under different owners. The vineyards were expanded especially in the 19th century by the Serre family, the owners at the time. Finally, in 2012, the castle was acquired by the Halley family. Today the estate extends over approximately 65 hectares, divided into over 100 plots.
The Chardonnay grapes come from a low hill vineyard, planted on brown calcareous-clayey soil, with east/south-east exposure. The harvest is manual, as for all Chateau de Meursault wines, and the fermentation takes place in barrels and lasts for approximately 15 days. The finished wine then ages on its lees for just over a year to acquire roundness and complexity.
Meursault du Chateau is a fragrant wine with aromas of stone fruit, apples, and pears, followed by elegant notes of white flowers. On the palate, it is round and broad, fresh and fruity. It has a medium body and a strong mineral vein. The finish is long and persistent. It makes a great aperitif and it’s the ideal wine with salmon tartare, crab or scampi-based recipes and also with veal.
