Casarena offers an authentic taste of Argentina, straight from the country’s vinous heartland of Mendoza. Head wine-maker Leandro Azin sources his grapes from four separate vineyards within the Luján de Cuyo appellation: Jamilla, Naoki, Owen and Lauren - each offering a different perspective on the region’s unique terroir.

Lauren’s Vineyard can be found at about 900 metres above sea level, making it one of the coldest grape-growing locations that Casarena have access to. It is also set apart by its deep, clayey soils, which impart a dense fruit-forward character to its Malbec wines - a classically Argentinian take on the grape, that has grown to be adored worldwide.

Lauren’s Vineyard Malbec is a ripe and plummy wine, deep, dark and purple in the glass, with uninhibited notes of cassis, blackberry, and cocoa exploding on the nose. After being harvested and fermented, the grapes spent 12 months maturing in French oak barrels. The nose is mirrored on the palate. Bold notes of blackcurrant, plum and blackberry mingle with hints of pepper and dark chocolate. This is an undeniably fruit-forward wine, supported by a soft tannic structure - perfect for anyone seeking a high-quality taste of Mendoza. Consider drinking it alongside a herby lamb dish, venison stew, or any steak.
