Rosé Wine
Brendan Tracey Pink 2020
Cellar for up to 4 years. Serve chilled.
New Jersey-born Brendan Tracey fell in love with his mother’s native country, France, while living with his aunt and studying at French high school. After a stint of playing in punk banks in California in the 1970s, he moved back to France permanently in 1980 and started making his own wines in 2010. Brendan’s irreverent winemaking philosophy is inspired by the punk movement, and especially The Ramones’ “Hey, ho, let’s go!” battle cry, prompting him to always try new things and push the boundaries of conventional practices.
Brendan’s quirky wines reinterpret the traditional varieties of the Loire Valley, like this Cabernet Franc which has been expressed as a punchy rosé. The deep pink hue comes from the extended skin contact that helps extract plenty of tannins, flavours and colour from the grape.
Intense sour cherry, raspberry and plums dominate on the nose, while the first sip reveals a nuanced, multi-layered flavour profile of rich red fruit with undertones of fresh herbs and citrus. Powerful yet well-balanced, the medium body and fine tannins make this a great food-friendly rosé to pair with everything from grilled tuna and salmon steaks to charcuterie and tomato-based pasta dishes.
