Bordeaux Red Blends
Biblia Chora Red 2020
Drink now or cellar for up to 8 years. No need to decant before serving.
In ancient times the wine region set on the hillsides of Mount Pangeon in north-eastern Greece was known as “Biblia Chora” after a special local grape variety originally brought here by the Phoenicians. In 1998 winemakers Vangelis Gerovassiliou and Vassilis Tsaktsarlis immediately recognised the potential of this area for a brand-new winery that would combine local grape varieties with international influences and a thoroughly modern winemaking philosophy.
Today the estate has blossomed into 65 hectares of organically-farmed vineyards producing delicious Greek wines like this smooth red blend. Crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot along with a drop of Agiorgitiko, the enticing character of this wine comes from the lengthy post fermentation maceration on the skins as well as 12 months of ageing in French oak barrels.
In the glass you’ll notice immediately the deep red hue and captivating plum, cassis, blackberry and spiced notes from the oak ageing. The first sip reveals a medium body, punchy tannins, and a solid core of dark fruit which lingers long on the palate. A great wine to serve alongside barbecued red meats or game as well as hearty tomato-based pasta dishes.
