The Bianchin Montello estate is situated in the middle of Prosecco country, in northeastern Italy. Bianchin is the name of the family, and Montello is the name of the sub-region where they grow their Glera grapes. It is best known for Bordeaux-style reds but is also home to some genuinely excellent sparkling wines.
Spumante is Bianchin Montello’s specialty. Their sparkling wines are among the finest in Treviso, crafted from Glera grown on family-owned property. The best wines of all bear the Asolo Prosecco DOCG title and originate from a single sunlit vineyard in the centre of the Montello, a densely wooded hill that gives rise to the region’s name.
This intensely aromatic Brut version of Prosecco Superiore is dominated by scents of green apples, with slight hints of pear, white flowers and citrus. It is made from 100% Glera, grown on the gentle slopes of the Montello at 274 metres above sea level. It is a pale straw yellow, with greenish hues. In the mouth, this Prosecco bursts with citrus zest, floral notes and balanced fruitiness. It is light and has a crisp mineral edge, making it easy to sip, but difficult to stop. It will pair best as a dessert or an aperitif, with some dates wrapped in prosciutto, or a zesty cheesecake.
