Nebbiolo
Antoniolo Gattinara Riserva 2018
Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour.
The Antoniolo winery was founded in 1948 by Mario Antoniolo and is currently run by the founder's grandchildren, Lorella and Alberto Zoppis Antoniolo. The company philosophy is guided by a great respect for the land which is worked with simple and minimally invasive methods. The approximately 15 hectares of vineyards are located in the most suitable areas of Gattinara. Here the soil is rich in mineral elements, and in fact, the wines of Gattinara are characterized by great minerality and sapidity that distinguish them from the other Nebbiolo wines of Piedmont.
The Gattinara Riserva Antoniolo is one of the best wines in northern Piedmont. The Nebbiolo grapes come from plants that are over 40 years old. The wine is aged in large oak barrels for at least 24 months and a further 12 in the bottle.
The wine has a brilliant garnet red color and an intense and elegant aromatic profile. On the nose, it reveals notes of violet, rose petals, and red fruit, especially raspberry. On the palate, it is soft and mineral with firm but well-integrated tannins and a good structure. It is perfect with game meat and aged cheeses.
