Andremily Syrah No. 8 2019

The Andremily winery was founded in 2012 by Jim Binns and his wife Rachel, to follow their own personal wine project. The name of the company comes from the union of the names of the couple's two children, Andrew and Emily. Production focuses on three wines, in limited quantities and made exclusively with varieties from the Rhone Valley. These are artisanal wines, which best express the combination of the characteristics of the vines and the terroir of California, and which have already received enthusiastic reviews.

The Andremily No.8 wine is a predominantly Syrah blend, with small additions of Mourvedre and Viognier, in the classic style of the Rhone Valley wines. The grapes are carefully selected from the White Hawk, Larner, Harrison-Clark, and Alta Mesa vineyards. The finished wine was aged in French oak (65% new) for 22 months, before bottling.

The wine reveals a dense and deep, dark purple color. The aromatic profile is intense and rich, with notes of cooked plums, cassis, cranberries, and blackberries, and then hints of smoke, truffles, and pepper. On the palate, it is a full-bodied and generous wine, concentrated and harmonious. The tannins are firm and well-integrated. The finish is long and slightly spicy. Try it with a juicy steak or with roast lamb.
