Located in Montalcino, in the enchanting landscape of the Val d'Orcia, in southern Tuscany, the Altesino winery has been owned by the Gnudi Angelini family since 2002. The company nucleus is based in the Palazzo Altesi built by the noble Tricerchi family starting from the 15th century. In the 70s, Altesino was purchased and renovated by Milanese entrepreneurs who transformed it into a modern and innovative company. Thanks to a series of important innovations, including the introduction of the Montosoli cru, the company then achieved great success. Today the Altesino winery produces not only Sangiovese, but also Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Vermentino, Malvasia, and Trebbiano.
The Sangiovese grapes come from the Montosoli vineyard, a cru of approximately 5 hectares located approximately 350-400 meters above sea level, in the northeast area of Montalcino. Here the grapes enjoy a particularly favorable terroir which guarantees the production of a complex, elegant, and extremely long-lived wine.
Brunello Montosoli has an intense and broad aromatic profile with notes of black cherry and raspberry, blackberry, and other red berries. There are also notes of violet typical of Sangiovese, and spicy hints coming from aging in oak. On the palate, it is dry and velvety with a warm and balanced finish. Excellent with dishes based on porcini mushrooms.
