Nestled among the rolling hills and quaint villages of Burgundy, France, lies the revered winery of Albert Bichot. Since 1831, the Bichot family has been crafting exceptional wines that honour the terroir of this mythical winemaking region. Now, the winery is under the management of Albéric Bichot, a sixth-generation winemaker who looks to the future, while maintaining the tried and true methods of the past.
Albert Bichot has built a reputation for producing wines of exceptional quality, elegance, and finesse, from some of Burgundy’s legendary appellations. This Gamay-based wine is sourced from the Moulin-à-Vent AOC appellation within Beaujolais, and more specifically, the Rochegrès vineyard. Occasionally you can see granite rock breaking the surface among rows of bulbous Gamay vines.
This wine is fragrant from the beginning, wafting with thick scents of red cherry, lilac, spices and smoke. This full character continues to the palate, where round textures prevail, enveloping the mouth in flavours of blackberry, cherry jam, and raspberry. There are perceptible hints of sweetness, coupled with high acidity and elegant tannins. On the focused finish, you can get hints of red apple and tart redcurrant. This Beaujolais will be a beautiful partner for mild cheeses, roast vegetables with Herbes de Provence, or a fine red meat dish.
